Our History and Journey
New York Paint and Hardware was born from the vision of Michael Gorelik, an immigrant from Belarus who arrived in 1979. While working tirelessly as a taxi driver, Michael harbored a dream of owning his hardware store. His journey began when he married Victoria and had the opportunity to manage a Paint and Decorating store on Manhattan's Upper East Side. This marked the initial step toward realizing his dream. With Victoria's dedication—she immersed herself in draperies and wallpaper knowledge to expand the business—they took the bold step of purchasing their paint store in 1986.
In the following years, Michael's dream transformed into reality, solely through unwavering determination and relentless effort. New York Paint and Decorating proudly introduced a hardware department.
Today, the torch has been passed to Michael's sons, Frank and Shawn, who now own and operate the business. Growing up in the store, Frank and Shawn share the same fervor as their father.
Together, they've expanded the enterprise to three distinctive locations, each with its unique specialty.

First Avenue Supply House: Located on the Upper East Side, it serves as a full-service Plumbing and Electrical Supply House.

New York Paint and Hardware: Yorkville: This location specializes in Benjamin Moore paint mixing and matching. It also boasts a custom drapery, window shade, and upholstery showroom known as Em Studio.
