Screen Repair Pricing
Straightforward pricing, no surprises. Final cost depends on the exact size and the mesh you choose, but most jobs fall right around these starting points:
- Re-screen or repair a standard window screen — $85
- Repair a large screen, such as a screen door — $100
- Build a brand-new custom screen from scratch — $120 and up
- Typical turnaround: about 3–5 days
Synthetic vs. Metal Mesh
We offer both synthetic (fiberglass) and metal screen mesh. For most NYC apartments and brownstones we use synthetic mesh — it’s flexible, easy on the eyes, and holds up well in city windows. Metal mesh is available when you want extra durability. We also stock tight-weave “no-see-um” mesh for tiny insects and heavier pet-resistant options. Not sure which is right? Bring the screen in and we’ll walk you through it.
Why the Upper East Side Trusts Us
For nearly four decades, families and building managers across the Upper East Side and Manhattan have relied on us for honest work and dependable results. We repair bent and damaged frames, replace worn mesh, and build new screens from scratch, all from our shop in the heart of Yorkville. On orders over $100, we also offer free same-day delivery across Manhattan, making your screen project as convenient as it is well done.
Window Screen Repair FAQ
Where can I get a window screen repaired on the Upper East Side?
Right here at New York Paint & Hardware, 1668 1st Ave (at E 87th St), in the heart of Yorkville. Bring your screen in or send us a photo and measurements and we’ll handle the rest. We serve the entire Upper East Side and all of Manhattan.
How much does window screen repair cost?
Re-screening or repairing a standard window screen starts at $85. A large screen such as a screen door is around $100, and a brand-new custom screen built from scratch starts at $120. Final pricing depends on the size and mesh — bring the screen in or send a photo with the frame dimensions and we’ll confirm before any work begins.
How long does window screen repair take?
Most screen repairs and new builds are ready in about 3 to 5 days. We’ll give you a firm timeline when you drop off or send your details.
Do you replace screens or only repair them?
Both. If the mesh is torn but the frame is sound, we re-screen it. If the frame is bent, corroded or beyond saving, we build a brand-new replacement screen cut to your exact opening.
Synthetic or metal screen — which should I get?
For most NYC windows we recommend synthetic (fiberglass) mesh, which is what we use on the majority of jobs. Choose metal mesh when you want extra durability. We’ll help you pick based on your windows and how you use the room.
Can you fix aluminum or sliding-door screens?
Yes. We re-mesh and straighten aluminum window frames and repair sliding-door and patio screens, including new spline and corner pieces where needed.
What should I bring or send?
A quick photo of the screen and its frame, plus the rough size of the opening, lets us quote your job faster. If you can, bring the old frame in — it’s the easiest way to get an exact match.
Need another in-store service while you’re here?
We also offer lamp repair and rewiring, knife sharpening, and custom lumber and wood cutting. See everything on our services page.
